Religious Education

At Westminster Community Primary School we recognise that Religious Education helps us to understand others and to reflect on ourselves as whole people, experiencing life through the body, the mind and the spirit. We want our pupils to understand the significance of religion and its contribution to people’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. We teach our children acceptance and respect because we believe this is important for their future as it prepares them for living in a multi-faith society.

Parents have the right by law to withdraw their children from the Religious Education curriculum. In this event, the school will undertake responsibility for the supervision of withdrawn pupils with regard to health and safety. We ask that you make an appointment with the head teacher and we would expect that you provide a programme of work for your child to complete while their class are learning in RE so that they can work independently in another classroom.
