We enjoy exploring words and being creative

We provide rich opportunities for the children to explore poetry and to work with poets. This gives the children experience of creating poetry to express themselves and of performing for different audiences.  This year's celebration falls on National Poetry Day on 7th October and this year's theme is 'Choice'.  We will be launching our new Anthology on that day, with readings from some of poets.  If you would like to attend the event, which will be virtual for guests, please contact me on head@westminsterprimary.cheshire.sch.uk and I will let you have the joining link.

Last year's celebration event was held online on Thursday 1st October and the theme was 'Vision'. In June 2021 we also launched our most recent Poetry Anthology, entitled 'Would you Rather'.  We featured four Spotlight Poems who each contributed a number of poems, and also poetry from other children (and staff) across the school.  Our launch event was done online, with children attending virtually from home or from their classroom.  It was a great success and we had some wonderful readings from our poets.  if you would like to purchase a copy of the anthology, you can do so for £2.50.
