Governors
Our Governing Body consists of 13 governors: (7 x Co-opted, 1 x Head, 1 x Staff, 1 x Local Authority, 1 x Parents, 2 x Associate Members)
Our governors serve for a 4 year term except staff governors who will serve for 2 years.
Please read on to find out what some of our governors say about themselves and their role as a governor:
Sue Mayers: "I have taught in a variety of schools and completed my career in the largest Primary School in North Lincolnshire as Assistant/Deputy Head. I am passionate about teaching and relish the prospect of being very involved at Westminster Primary as a Governor. I love coming into school and supporting children with their learning and the warm friendly atmosphere radiating throughout the school makes me realise what a privilege it is to be part of the team. I enjoy using my teaching and senior management experiences to benefit the school."
Anne Thompson: "I worked in various Admin roles during my working life, ending with (early!) retirement after nearly seven years at Sutton High School where I was PA to the Year Heads. It's very different working with Primary School age children! I am really enjoying reading with the children each Friday and seeing the continuous improvement. The thing which has made the biggest impression on me is how very polite all the students are - all the time! I am Vice Chair of Governors."
Phillipa Watton: "My son, Charlie, now attends a local Secondary School after completing his Primary education at this school. I really enjoy seeing the children's confidence and knowledge grow with each school year and I always visit the children on their residential trips."
Kath Lloyd: "I have been a school governor at nursery, primary and secondary schools and have spent 20 years working in Children’s Services in different Local Authorities. I spent 3 very happy years as Children’s Centre Manager at Westminster Community Primary School."
Kathleen Spain: "I have had four children attend this school over the years and now have a stepson attending in the Reception Class. I really enjoy my time in the school and love to hear the 'voice of the children' and to help be part of a team who is focused on helping the future of this school."
Kenny Spain "I am very pleased that I have been a governor since 1991. I have accepted the responsibility and continue to fulfill the commitment. Since this time, I have witnessed the school improve tremendously. There is always a positive feeling when I enter the school and a tremendous buzz of activities."
Jo Seaward: "I started teaching here in 2007, and I am the Maths Subject Leader. I have enjoyed working in Westminster over the years, taking part in all school activities and residentials. I have been a Teacher Governor for a number of years and I am very proud to be part of the School Team, who are devoted to the development and success of the school."
Laura Turner: "I have been a governor at this wonderful school since 2015 after previously leading a weekly after school club in school. I am also a qualified counsellor and work as a mental health lead for a local third sector company and have a passion to promote positive mental health in young people".
Sue Finch: "I have been Head Teacher here since 2006. It is a pleasure to work at Westminster Community Primary School and to be part of the excellent team. We work well together to provide a good education for the children and as well as working hard, we work with a sense of enjoyment and fun. There is much to celebrate within our school community and our website will give you a clear picture of our good work."
Each governor has a link area within the school. The tables below give you information about each of our governors. There are also documents that you can download. You may also wish to visit the NGA website and access the Department for Education Governance Handbook.
