Geography

We teach Geography in our school with the following aims:

  1. To develop an interest in and awareness of place.

  2. To study a locality and contrast this with other localities, encouraging pupils to ask questions and take part in field work activities.

  3. To identify human and physical features of a place, as well as comparing similarities and differences between localities.

  4. Develop an understanding of the relationship between and the effects of human activity and physical processes.

  5. To develop an understanding of special patterns in the human and physical environment, including weather patterns.

  6. To develop knowledge and use of, a range of geographical vocabulary to describe features and characteristics of places.

  7. To develop children’s confidence and competency in specific geographical skills.

  8. To increase knowledge of continents, oceans, countries and places across Europe and the Americas through interesting and engaging activities.
