Please read on to find out what some of our members say about themselves and their roles:
Kirstie Davies: "I would highly recommend Westminster Community Primary school to anyone. They have helped my family in so many ways and I am proud to be a member of the Local Education Committee."
Lisa Denson: "Two of my children attended Westminster Community Primary and I myself attended this school in the days it was known as John street. I have been running a community group Westminster families for the last 8 years and I am the Local Councillor for the Westminster Ward. I became Mayor of Ellesmere Port in 2021. I feel really privileged to be part of this team and the amazing school community".
Emma Dunn: I have worked at Westminster Primary school since 2015 and it has been a privilege to work across the key stages during this time. It was a pleasure to take up the role of Deputy Head in 2018, the same time taking on the role of associate member on the Education Committee.
Sue Finch: "I have been Head Teacher here since 2006. It is a pleasure to work at Westminster Community Primary School and to be part of the excellent team. We work well together to provide a good education for the children and as well as working hard, we work with a sense of enjoyment and fun. There is much to celebrate within our school community and our website will give you a clear picture of our good work."
Sue Mayers: "I have taught in a variety of schools and completed my career in the largest Primary School in North Lincolnshire as Assistant/Deputy Head. This senior role meant that I was involved with all aspects of school life. During this time I was also very involved with the governing body. I have been a governor at Westminster Community Primary School for almost four years and am now in my second year as Chair. I relish any training that I may have access to so that I can be as an effective governor to the school as possible. I feel that my senior management skills and teaching experiences benefit the school. I am very proud to be involved with Westminster Community Primary School.
Les Poole: "My first involvement with Westminster School was when I was asked if I could assist in a school walk to the summit of Moel Famau. I was genuinely impressed with the school, the staff and the wonderful children. My first project was helping build the forest school benches, which I believe are being well used! It is fair to say my experiences have exceeded my expectations. I have great empathy with Ellesmere Port having worked in the area for the past 34 years and a number of our employees being local residents. I believe that my commercial and life experiences, together with my positive can-do attitude would be a valuable contribution to the school. In addition, not having a direct involvement with the school, provides the opportunity to look at matters with a detached view."
Jo Seaward: "I started teaching here in 2007, and I am the Maths Subject Leader. I have enjoyed working in Westminster over the years, taking part in all school activities and residentials. I have been a Teacher Governor for a number of years and I am very proud to be part of the School Team, who are devoted to the development and success of the school."
Kathleen Spain: "I have had four children attend this school over the years and now have a stepson attending in the Reception Class. I really enjoy my time in the school and love to hear the 'voice of the children' and to help be part of a team who is focused on helping the future of this school."
Anne Thompson: "I worked in various Admin roles during my working life, ending with (early!) retirement after nearly seven years at Sutton High School where I was PA to the Year Heads. It's very different working with Primary School age children! I am really enjoying reading with the children each Friday and seeing the continuous improvement. The thing which has made the biggest impression on me is how very polite all the students are - all the time! I am Vice Chair."
Laura Turner: "I have been a governor at this wonderful school since 2015 after previously leading a weekly after school club in school. I am also a qualified counsellor and work as a mental health lead for a local third sector company and have a passion to promote positive mental health in young people".
Phillipa Watton: "My son, Charlie, now attends a local Secondary School after completing his Primary education at this school. I really enjoy seeing the children's confidence and knowledge grow with each school year and I always visit the children on their residential trips."
Each member of the Local Education Commitee has a link area within the school. The tables below give you information about each of our governors. All members can access Governor Hub and the following sites are also helpful for ensuring members can access training and check policy and guidance:
