Year 2 2017 - 2018

Mrs Gaynor

Following a wealth of experience, including teaching Reception through to Year 7 and a variety of management roles, I became the DHT at Westminster in April 2014. My gaining the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) some years ago, has certainly supported me in my role. I am passionate about teaching, love working with people and enjoy being the English Subject Leader as well as a Senior Leader. The variety in my role is interesting, fun and rewarding.
When I am not working, I spend good quality time with my family, attend church, read books, socialise with friends, travel and participate in Girlguiding activities as a Girlguiding Leader.

As well as my roles in school, I am also a moderator for the local authority and an English consultant for Literacy Counts. I thoroughly enjoy these additional roles.

When I am not working, I spend good quality time with my family, attend church, read books, socialise with friends, travel and participate in Girlguiding activities as a Girlguiding Leader.

Mrs Sewell

I enjoy working at Westminster and being part of the school team. In my spare time I enjoy singing and I am a member of a singing group.

We had fun looking at the creatures in a pond. We worked together in small teams to investigate. What fun we had!

Well, we faced our challenges and were so proud of ourselves.

Asia Day

Our focus in geography this term has been the seven continents of the world. We decied to celebrate part of this learning by inviting our grown-ups in to share Asian culture, crafts, dancing and food. We even had some special visitors in traditional Asian dress. All of the children had a great time sharing their learning experiences with their grown-ups. Please check out the photos below.

We’re Going on a ………… Hunt!

Year 2 have written their own versions of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’ They chose to go on a rabbit, lizard, mouse, butterfly, cat and a squirrel hunt. They had so much fun making these and Ms Finch was so impressed with their enthusiasm that she came to our classroom to listen to Michael and Tyler read  'We're Going On A Rabbit Hunt'.

On Friday 13th October, Year 2 went down to the Reception class and read their books to the younger children. Both classes had a wonderful time and even put some actions to the stories. Yr2 have given these books to the Reception class as a gift.

On Tuesday 10th October Year 2 went on a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. We had a fantastic time. We got to see the way transport has changed over the years. We were even lucky enough to have someone from the museum show us how a steam engine works.  (Please view the pictures in our gallery.)

Our First Day In Year 2

Well, what an amazing day we had! We were reminded of how we should always endeavor to be Good Learners, how to keep happy and safe by keeping our school rules, but best of all, we made flower models and baked oat cookies in the shape of vehicles! (See the photos in the gallery.)

We're all so excited about the term ahead and already love being in Yr2.
